Here’s how it will work:

1.    Each division has been assigned a Sunday during the season (see schedule below) when the teams in that division will compete in the preliminary rounds of the DIFL Cup competition.

2.    The preliminary round will include the initial group matches plus two semi-finals. All cup final matches will be played on Sunday, February 26^th, as part of the 2011 season closing ceremony (see schedule below).

The Preliminary Round

1.    At the opening ceremony there will be a draw to form four groups of three teams - Group A, Group B, Group C and Group D. The first name that gets picked goes to Group A the second to B and so on.

2.    The teams in Group A will play each other once, the teams in Group B will play each other once, etc.

3.    The duration of each match depends on the division (see table below).

Division 4 11 per Team	Regulation time        = 20 minutes x 2       = 40 minutes Half time                                                        = 5 minutes Extra time*                 = 7.5 minutes x 2      = 15 minutes
Division 5 9  per Team	Regulation time        = 20 minutes x 2       = 40 minutes Half time                                                        = 5 minutes Extra time*                 = 7.5 minutes x 2      = 15 minutes
Division 6 9 per Team	Regulation time        = 20 minutes x 2       = 40 minutes Half time                                                        = 5 minutes Extra time*                 = 7.5 minutes x 2      = 15 minutes

4.    In the initial group stages, a team gets 3 points for a win and 1 for a draw.

5.    At the end of the initial group stages the team at the top of each group will progress to the semi-final stage.

6.    Determining the group winner:

a.    Number of points

b.    Goal difference

c.    Goals scored

d.    Head to Head

e.    Penalties (if teams are still tied, the group winner will be determined by a penalty shootout – in case all 3 teams are tied then the penalty shoot out will be between all 3 in the same order as the matches were scheduled)

7.    In the semi final matches if, at the end of regulation time the scores are tied extra time will be played. If the scores are still tied at the end of extra time, the match will be settled by a penalty shoot out.

8.    Team strength for the Cup Competition will be as follow                                                         Division  1            will play    8  per Side                                                                     Division  2, 3 & 4  will play   11 per Side                                                                Division 5 & 6        will play   9  per Side 

9.    Minimum number of Players required to field a Team would be                                             Division  1            minimum    5  per Side                                                        Division  2, 3 & 4  minimum    7  per Side                                                            Division 5 & 6       minimum    6  per Side

10.  Should a Team not be able to field the minimum required player’s, then he gives a walk over to both Teams on that Group, however they will be allowed to play a friendly with both.
